Unfortunately, one-third of Canadians lack dental insurance, leading many to delay or avoid necessary care due to cost. Southdale Square Dental Centre is pleased to support the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a relatively new program designed by the Government of Canada to help eligible residents access affordable dental care. This program ensures dental services remain accessible to those who need them most.

What Does the CDCP Cover?

Once approved, eligible patients can receive routine cleanings, fillings, root canal therapy, dentures, extractions, and other treatments (some may require pre-approval). Our team at Southdale Square Dental Centre is here to help you understand your coverage and begin your journey to better oral health without delay.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Eligible Canadians of all ages can now apply
• No current dental insurance
• Adjusted family net income under $90,000
• Canadian resident for tax purposes
• Filed previous year’s income tax return

If you already have dental coverage through government social programs, you may still qualify. Coverage will be coordinated to avoid duplication or gaps.

Important Facts About the CDCP

• The CDCP is administered by Health Canada and is not a free dental program.
• Approval typically takes about three months—apply early!
• Patients will still have a portion to co-pay to our office depending on income and may incur costs for services not covered by CDCP.
• Understand your dental costs before treatment.

To apply online, you will need:

• Social Insurance Number (SIN) if available
• Proof of income
• Date of birth and full name
• Home and mailing addresses
• Information about other government dental coverage
• Recent tax return and Notice of Assessment
